Important Health Information

Before choosing a bath coating, you need to be aware that many if not most bath coatings are Isocyanate-containing paints and commonly known as 2-pack or “2K” paints with isocyanates. These compounds can also be found in some water-based paints, the majority of base coats, and nearly all lacquers. The term ‘water-based’ does not indicate that a paint is free of isocyanates; it simply means that it is emulsion-based and contains lower levels of solvents. The application of 2-pack isocyanate paints is the leading cause of occupational asthma in the UK. For many years, paint sprayers have been identified as the most vulnerable group. Paint sprayers face a risk of developing asthma that is approximately 90 times greater than that of the general working population in the UK. Each year, around 50 sprayers are diagnosed with isocyanate asthma, and most are forced to leave the industry. Other employees such as maintenance staff, managers, general public who either work near where spraying is being carried out or just a guest at the establishment, may also be at risk. The mist produced during spraying that contains isocyanate can exacerbate pre-existing asthma conditions. Even minimal exposure can trigger an asthma attack in those affected. Additionally, significant skin contact with isocyanate hardeners can lead to dermatitis. Our bath coating system DOES NOT contain any isocyanates.

Application

Kada isocyanate free epoxy primer is a 4: 1 part, resin product that possesses all of the benefits of a new generation of refinishing products. It is very flexible in many ways and designed specifically for easy mixing and application in field driven application requirements. Formulated to provide a tough, chemically resistant, high quality coating and its unique fast cure properties. For dry environments, return to service times are greatly reduced. Kada isocyanate free epoxy primer is ideal for applications where customer downtime is critical, and units need to be back in service the same day.

Mix sufficient 4 parts of resin (and any tint colour) with one part catalyst and reduce as necessary. Pour mixed resin liquid into your air spray system (or roller if not spraying) and spray repaired area until a satisfactory finish has been achieved.

Remember to mix only the amount of material sufficient to spray the desired surface within a period of 8 hours. Significantly shorter pot life can occur at higher temperatures, especially above 30 degrees C.

Spray a uniform tack coat, followed by two medium build wet coats, ensuring adequate flash times between coats. Build to a recommended film thickness of 90 -110 microns wet, 70- 75 microns dry. Do not over apply. Allow 10 minutes between coats to avoid runs and allow flash out.
